The Myanmar regime has launched a campaign to confiscate unlicensed cars and motorcycles, depriving owners who can’t afford licensed vehicles of essential transport, while avoiding tackling the corruption and policies that make legal vehicles too expensive for most people.
Under monsoon skies leaden with rain, Myanmar rice farmers despondently tend their paddy fields, doubtful the deluge will bring bountiful harvests during a fuel and fertiliser crisis caused by the Iran war.
