Despite soaring tuition fees, enrolments are growing strongly at Yangon’s international schools as Myanmar parents seek a pathway to a prestigious foreign university for their children.
In May the NUG ordered schools in areas under its control to close until security measures could be implemented to protect against junta airstrikes, but many villages lack the funds to make the changes, leaving children without access to education.
