Lower prices and a level of tolerance from police have made motorbikes a common sight on the streets of Yangon, even though they are prohibited in the city’s urban areas.
The Myanmar regime has launched a campaign to confiscate unlicensed cars and motorcycles, depriving owners who can’t afford licensed vehicles of essential transport, while avoiding tackling the corruption and policies that make legal vehicles too expensive for most people.
