Podcast: Unwanted pregnancies

This week, we look at what happens when a pregnancy is unwanted in Myanmar? Women can face social stigma if they become pregnant and give birth outside wedlock. Abortion is illegal in most cases. With thousands of unwanted infants being abandoned at orphanages and monasteries across the country, we talk to people affected by this crisis.

This story is by Pyay Sone Aung, Win Zar Ni Aung and Aye Aye Aung from Frontier Myanmar. Doh Athan is a weekly podcast which looks at human rights issues from around Myanmar. It is made by Frontier with media partners from around the country.

Doh Athan is made through a partnership with Fondation Hirondelle and the support of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Myanmar and the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation.
