Myanmar's military junta granted amnesty on Monday to more than 7,000 prisoners convicted of financing or sheltering a "terrorist group", a designation it has used to outlaw pro-democracy factions opposing its rule.
Severe monsoon flooding has swamped villages and paddy fields in central Myanmar, forcing people out of their homes including those already displaced by war, an Agence France-Presse reporter and the United Nations said.
