HK budget carrier plans services to Yangon, Mandalay

YANGON — Budget Hong Kong carrier HK Express is planning to launch flights to Yangon and Mandalay early next year, the airline said.

The flights would begin in February, HK Express said in a news release on November 12.

“We are thrilled to open these new links to Myanmar, which is one of the most talked-about countries in the world right now,” said Andrew Cowen, the airline’s chief executive. “We always try to expand our services to keep up with the insatiable demand. I have no doubt these affordable routes will be hugely popular next year,” he said.

The low-cost carrier specialises in flights to popular tourist destinations, including Siem Reap in Cambodia, Bangkok and Chiang Mai in Thailand and Danang in Vietnam. It also operates flights to destinations in China, Japan and South Korea.
