Myanmar's detained democratic leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi met with the nation's Red Cross representative on Monday, the regime president's office said.
Former prisoners in Myanmar say many inmates suffer from beriberi – a serious disease caused by vitamin B1 deficiency that can be fatal if left untreated – because they are deprived of adequate nutrition by prison authorities.
