Human Rights Defenders: The Women’s Rights Activist

Myanmar has never ranked highly in global gender equality tables, but improvements were made during the reform years. The United Nations says patterns of abuse and gender-based violence have definitely worsened since the military coup. In this feature, we profile a women’s rights defender who says women must play a meaningful role in building a peaceful future for the country.

Doh Athan is a weekly podcast about human rights issues in Myanmar. It is made by local journalists with media partners from across the country, through a partnership with Fondation Hirondelle and the support of our donors.
