The United Nations has played into the military’s hands in Rakhine State, by acquiescing when the regime starved communities of aid and then restored humanitarian access to achieve its war aims.
Fighting between the regime and the resistance in mountainous areas of western Magway Region bordering Rakhine State has made life even more difficult for residents of remote villages long overlooked by aid organisations.
