The UN Human Rights Council on Monday adopted a resolution condemning human rights violations by Myanmar's military against the Rohingya and other minorities, and called for a process of reconciliation.
Former prisoners in Myanmar say many inmates suffer from beriberi – a serious disease caused by vitamin B1 deficiency that can be fatal if left untreated – because they are deprived of adequate nutrition by prison authorities.
