The government is conducting a long-overdue review of the opaque, graft-riddled jade industry, which is dominated by powerful vested interests whose activities are costing Myanmar billions of dollars a year in lost revenue.
China and the Myanmar regime have pledged to expand trade and security ties, especially along their border, during talks in the Southeast Asian nation with its junta chief-turned-president and both countries' top diplomats, the two governments said.
