More than 700 workers have been left jobless after the closure of a Yangon shoe factory that had defied an order to reinstate a sacked workplace labour union member.
The stark reduction in international funding for Myanmar nonprofits since early last year has left legal aid and advocacy groups with huge budget gaps, reducing their capacity to conduct their work and making their future uncertain.
