The presence of a Chinese diplomat at a conference of Myanmar’s armed ethnic groups has focussed attention on Beijing’s interest in a successful outcome to the peace process.
China and the Myanmar regime have pledged to expand trade and security ties, especially along their border, during talks in the Southeast Asian nation with its junta chief-turned-president and both countries' top diplomats, the two governments said.
