Membership FAQs

The success of our membership programme will depend on the input and support of our readers. You can learn about how the project started here. It’s worth a read if you want to learn about why we’re doing it and where we hope it will lead.

If your question isn’t answered in our FAQs, send us an email at members@frontiermyanmar.net.

Q: Why is Frontier building a membership programme?

We are launching memberships to ensure the long-term survival of Frontier and to build a community around people who care about independent journalism in Myanmar.

Q: What exactly do you mean by memberships?

We mean that we’re building a community by creating opportunities (both online and in real life) for our members to collaborate and engage with us, and with each other. We’ve also developed two products that our members can subscribe to: a daily briefing on Myanmar and a monitoring service of Myanmar-language media.

Q: Where can I find out more about your Daily Briefing and Media Monitor?

For more information and samples of both products, please see our sales kit.

Q: How can I become a Frontier member?

You can sign up by clicking on this link and choosing one of the membership plans.

Q: Can I buy a membership for my team?

Yes, absolutely. We’ve designed two membership packages for institutions such as embassies, NGOs, businesses and universities. One package is for small institutions (up to five log-ins) and the other is for large institutions (up to 20 log-ins). Both packages include the option for each member of your team to subscribe to the Daily Briefing and the Media Monitor.

If you have a really big team and you’d like more than 20 logins, send us an email and we can talk about creating a custom package.

Q: Can we transfer membership from one team member to another?

Yes, institutional members can update the email addresses for their team at any time.

Q: I want to become a member but I don’t have a credit card. Can I pay for a membership with cash or by direct deposit?

Yes you can. Send us an email at members@frontiermyanmar.net and we’ll organise this for you.

Q: How can I gift a membership to another individual or institution?

You can either do that through our memberships homepage or by clicking on the yellow ‘F’ logo in the bottom right corner of the Frontier homepage.

Q: How do I log in to my Frontier account?

Click the yellow ‘F’ logo in the bottom right corner of the Frontier homepage. You can either sign in using a magic link that we send to your email address, or by creating a password. You can do this by clicking the yellow ‘F’ logo and Edit Profile. You can also use your Google or Facebook account to log in.

Q: I’ve signed up and logged in. How do I edit my profile, manage my newsletters, manage my subscription or gift a subscription to someone else?

You can do all of these things by clicking on the yellow ‘F’ logo in the bottom right hand corner of the page, revealing a menu of options.

Q: I’ve signed up for a basic membership, but I can’t log in to the Frontier app. What’s going on?

We’re designing a new app for members which will launch in the coming months. You’ll be able to log in with your membership details once it’s live.

Q: Can I still read your online news for free?

Members will soon have priority access to magazine content online. We’ll still put everything online for free a week or two after it’s published in print and goes out to members. But who wants to wait that long?

Q: How can I subscribe to the print edition of Frontier?

If you want to receive the print magazine but you don’t want to become a Frontier member, you can subscribe here. At the moment, this service is only available within Myanmar but we’re working on offering international print subscriptions.

Q: I already subscribe to the print/digital version of Frontier. What does your membership programme mean for me?

We have automatically upgraded you for free to our membership programme for the rest of your subscription. This means you will get the print/digital access that you now subscribe to, as well as all the benefits of membership. When it’s time to renew your subscription, you can decide if you want to continue being a member.

Q: I subscribe to the print edition, why has nobody told me about this free upgrade?

If you’re a print subscriber and you haven’t received notification of your free upgrade, it’s because we haven’t got your email address. Please send us an email at members@frontiermyanmar.net and we’ll add you to the list.
