Much of Myanmar has been engulfed by violence and fear since last year’s coup. In southerly Tanintharyi Region, fighting between anti-regime and junta forces, as well as the presence of pro-military vigilante groups and a rise in everyday crime, has created a widespread culture of fear, leaving many too scared to travel to their place of work.
