Members of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw are preparing to vote on a series of amendments to the constitution but it is unlikely that any of them will be approved.

Describing the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw as merely a rubber stamp is not only inaccurate. It also does a disservice to the MPs who are working hard to fulfil their duties.
Officially, rape hardly happens in Myanmar and domestic abuse is non-existent. The reality? Violence against women is so pervasive it is regarded as normal and is woefully underreported.
